It made me think. I like the way you write to convey things. Very nice style.

I totally agree with you. Rather than being a fanatic or an extreme follower of these 'loud' meetings (likewise I don't mean to do them harm), what matters to me most is to follow Christ's teachings. To live a life like He did. And, of course to leave an impact on other people's lives. A good one shall I add. Your message was well delivered - prosit!

Keep 'em coming! Take good care of yourself and God bless :)

Wish you well!

albertaAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01135190038272699952noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585770016549670048.post-5737476973285698532007-09-20T13:34:00.000+02:002007-09-20T13:34:00.000+02:00Hi all! Thanks for the interesting comments! :)

I would like to say that religion is useless if it fails to have visible effects within a society. People who merely preach, but never act will do little to further a cause.

As far as prayer groups are concerned, my stance is that different people approach God in diverse ways. For some, the best way is to sing and clap. Other people prefer other ways.

I totally agree that one does NOT have to believe in God to be a good person. Having said that, one should not forget that every person lives in a community. It is sometimes very hard for many people to feel any degree of care for those around them if they do not have a particular world-view that stresses loving one's neighbour.

Many people have, unfortunately, deserted the Catholic Church because of certain things that they might have heard from a specific priest's mouth. Apart from the fact that no person is perfect, it is precisely in such situations that one's image of Jesus should be most helpful; perceiving Jesus as an individual who was mainly interested in transmitting a message of love, whatever is said by certain individuals throughout one's life should not act as a deterrent to focus on the ultimate goals of a Christian - creating a heaven for all people.

Being a Christian should also not conflict with science or with being rational. While Jesus often talked about the importance of faith, he never condemned science in his teachings. Furthermore, if science is a tool that we can use to transform this universe into a better place for all people, why should it be discouraged or viewed negatively?David Cuschierihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06479884899112163160noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585770016549670048.post-26881235663141774992007-09-17T18:12:00.000+02:002007-09-17T18:12:00.000+02:00Hi Dave!!A very good post... something which reall...Hi Dave!!

A very good post... something which really does make you stop and think! I believe this is one of the best "discussions" on faith I have come across. True and open with out beating around any bushes.

I, unfortunately, have still to find any reason to see religion as anything more then a false outcrying.

One does not have to be Christian, catholic, Muslim or what have you to do good!

I think my skepticism of religion grew out of a time I used to attend a Prayer Group and after a few months abandoned it as I felt it all so fake!

Yet, thanks for this post... it is refreshing and eye-opening!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10933743767920594650noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3585770016549670048.post-1888465884010448232007-09-17T10:29:00.000+02:002007-09-17T10:29:00.000+02:00Interesting post... I agree with you that Jesus' morality is a good one - however I have my doubts whether Christian teachings are valid.

Personally I don't care anymore about religion - only yesterday I heard the pope say that "the only salvation is found through Christ" and that made me laugh a bit (much to dismay of my family).

Actually, from a sociological and political perspective I like the way the church thinks of the individual and society and the relationship they both have together. Otherwise... I find it hard to find time for anything religious.Andrehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04706450242483900385noreply@blogger.com
